Following the successful weekly coffee mornings for people with dementia and their carers, the community mental health team for older adults has introduced a monthly evening session for carers. This session is targeted at working carers and those carers who are unable to access day time events due to their caring role.
The event is hosted by members of Bracknell Forest Dementia Voice Group (co-production group), Bracknell Memory Clinic, Bracknell Forest Dementia Advisory Service and Signal for Carers. Other organisations are also invited, including Young People with Dementia Charity (YPWD).
The evening enables carers to chat with others in a similar situation. They also share information about local resources, as well as getting one to one advice from practitioners. Although the event has only been running for two months, it has been extremely successful with nearly 30 people attending each of the evenings.
The event is open to anyone caring for a person with dementia within Bracknell Forest. It is held on the last Monday of each month from 5.30pm to 7pm at The Prince Pub in Crowthorne.
